2013-06-19 - Press release: Surplus buildings of the MUHC and the CHUM
Les amis de la montagne are pleased with the creation of an inter-ministerial committee
As well as being the headquarters of Les amis de la montagne, the Maison Smith is your entry point to Mont-Royal Park. A heritage building constructed in 1858, the Maison Smith has become an education, exchange and cooperation centre devoted to the conservation of Mont Royal’s environment.
Visitors can take advantage of a reception service in the boutique open year-round for information about Mont Royal, as well as Les amis' activities and services. The public is invited to share observations, comments, or suggestions. Call us at 514 843-8240, ext. 0.
Visitors can find original souvenirs and all the equipment they need for bird watching, or identifying plants or rocks at the nature-boutique, which focuses on Mont Royal. The nature-boutique also features maps of Mont Royal, interpretation brochures and books.
The Café des Amis, located on the main floor of Maison Smith, is the ideal place for a wholesome lunch or snack in convivial surroundings: sandwiches, hot meals, hot and cold beverages, beer and wine, as well as sweet treats and our famous organic fair-trade hot chocolate. An outdoor terrace is open from mid-May to mid-October.
A permanent exhibition entitled Mont Royal: A Territory to Discover, is accessible to the public free of charge. The exhibit traces the history, natural environment and associated conservation issues concerning Mont Royal.
