If you are looking for status updates regarding the services offered by Les Amis de la montagne, you've come to the right place!

As the City of Montréal’s preferred partner in Mount Royal Park, Les Amis de la montagne operates visitor services, including:

  • services and activities in the park,
  • outdoor equipment rentals,
  • restaurants and cafés operations,
  • as well as a full range of cultural, educational and recreational programs.

Revenues generated are reinvested for the benefit of Mount Royal Park and park users.

Closures and work done by the City of Montréal in and around Mount Royal Park

Les Amis de la montagne keeps you informed of work done by the City of Montréal in and around Mount Royal Park as well as any closures of park entrances. For more information on work done in the park, visit the City of Montréal’s Info-travaux (in French only).

Montreal Cycling Grand Prix

Duration: Sunday, September 15, 2024

Please note that we will be hosting the Montreal Cycling Grand Prix on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Access to the mountain will be more difficult. Remembrance Road and Camillien-Houde Way will be closed from 4:00 AM to 6:30 PM on Sunday, September 15. Here are some options for reaching the mountain:

  • From Peel Station - Take the grand staircase (Chalet / Maison Smith area)
  • From Guy-Concordia Station - Bus 165-166 - Take the Trafalgar staircase (Pavilion / Maison Smith area)
  • From Côte-des-Neiges Station - Bus 165-166 - Take the Trafalgar staircase (Pavilion / Maison Smith area)

Work in Mount Royal's Marsh sector and Modification of Certain Access Points

Duration: From August 5 until December 2024

Mount Royal's Marsh sector will undergo work to protect the ecosystem and provide better access to the mountain. This includes modifying the access routes to the Chalet / Maison Smith.

However, access is maintained for pedestrians and cyclists using the south side of Olmsted Path (approximately 1.5m width available). Authorized vehicles can use the trail south of Olmsted.

Drilling Work

Duration: 3 weeks starting from August 19, 2024

Drilling work in the parking lots of Maison Smith and Pavillon du Lac-aux-Castors

Redevelopment of the intersection of Chemins Remembrance and Côte-des-Neiges

Duration: From January 8 to March 1 2024

Redevelopment of the intersection of Chemins Remembrance and Côte-des-Neiges will impact access to Mount Royal park throughout the project's many phases.

Consult the City of Montréal's description of the project to keep track of impediments to traffic.


How to get to the top of Mount Royal

By public transit

  • From Metro Mont-Royal: Bus 11 (west), stop at Remembrance/Chemin du Chalet or Lac-aux-Castors.
  • From Metro Côte-des-Neiges: Bus 165 (south), stop at Forest Hill. Then transfer to Bus 11 (east) and stop at Remembrance/Chemin du Chalet or Lac-aux-Castors.

By car

  • From the east: Take Avenue Mont-Royal and then follow Chemin Camillien-Houde.
  • From the west: Take Chemin Côte-des-Neiges and then follow Remembrance. Three parking lots are available on the mountain.

On foot

  • South of Mount Royal: Take entrance at the corner of Rue Peel and Avenue des Pins (W). Climb up stairs to Kondiaronk lookout.
  • East: Walk Chemin Olmsted until the summit or take the stairs (mid-route) to Kondiaronk lookout.
  • West: Take Rue Hill Park Circle via Chemin Côte-des-Neiges and follow it to Beaver Lake Pavilion.

Status or accessibility of the roads and public transit services

Before coming to the mountain, whether by car, bicycle or public transit, we recommend that you check the status or accessibility of the roads and paths leading to Mount Royal. Roadwork, sporting events or other activities may cause delays or require road closures.

As well, we encourage you to visit the Société de transport de Montréal's website before planning your route.
