Guided Discovery Walk: A Mountain that “Rocks”

How does the forest adapt to the changing seasons? Imagining themselves as photographers and equipped with cardboard cameras, students explore Mount Royal and "take pictures" of what they find interesting.

This walk takes the form of an investigation that enables participants to learn about the geological formation of Mount Royal. Through various activities, kids ask questions and make assumptions that allow them to place geological events in chronological order. At the end of the walk, they finally have the answer to the question, “Is Mount Royal an extinct volcano?”
