Invasive species control: Cow parsley

Many invasive species tend to sprout before native plants, effectively outcompeting them in the race for sunlight. Cow parsley is one such species, carpeting the ground in several sectors of the mountain and taking up space that belongs to native vegetation.

Towards the end of winter, it can be exciting to see the first patches of green appearing amidst the melting snow. However, many invasive species tend to sprout before native plants, effectively outcompeting them in the race for sunlight. Cow parsley is one such species, carpeting the ground in several sectors of the mountain and taking up space that belongs to native vegetation.

Required materials:

  • Knee pads and gloves will be provided on site.
  • Long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn.

Weather:

To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. Should adverse weather conditions be forecast 24 hours before the activity, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to inform you.


The activity will be cancelled in the event of:

  • High probability of thunderstorms
  • Winds and/or gusts over 60 km/h
  • Temperature above 38°C
  • Air quality index over 100
