Mount Royal is home to remarkable biodiversity, but this balance remains fragile due to numerous pressures. Each year, hundreds of volunteers come together to protect the mountain’s natural environments. Join us Saturday May 3rd as we kick off a new season of actions in support of the ecological integrity of Mount Royal.
We will begin the day with a guided hike to discover the variety of actions planned for this summer as part of the environmental stewardship program. It will also be an opportunity to explore the ecological richness of the mountain's ecosystems.
We will then head to our first intervention site of the season, where you can contribute to one of the two proposed actions.
Each year, we return to planting sites for up to 5 years to monitor their progress. The data collected helps us improve future planting strategies. The task is simple: locate the planted trees, assess their health, measure their size, and note any signs of disturbance. This activity is a great opportunity to learn how to identify the various species that make up the woodlands of Mount Royal.

Among other things, it is known to release toxins into the soil, impacting the mycorrhizal fungi that surrounding plants depend on for water and nutrients. Come learn more about the impacts of its presence on natural environments while getting hands-on to limit its spread on the mountain by manually removing the plants!
To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. Should adverse weather conditions be forecast 24 hours before the activity, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to inform you.
The activity will be cancelled in the event of:
