Working in teams, students will take on challenges that require observation, listening, memory and cooperation.
In this program that spans the entire school year, students grow saplings from seeds, and learn about the importance of urban flora. The program begins with a guided excursion on the mountain, during which students harvest seeds. They then plant them and tend the young shoots and tree saplings in the classroom. The year ends with a final visit to Mount Royal.
Level: Elementary cycle 3, Secondary Cycle 1 and special educations
Duration: Throughout the school year
Pedagogical skills: Science and technology, the living world: characteristics, structure and transformation of living things, energy sources of living beings, interactions between living organisms and their environment, and interaction between humans and their environment, and land and space: properties, characteristics and transformation of matter.
Transversal skills: working together, amazement at nature, curiosity and openness to their environment, respect for codes and conventions, use of appropriate symbols and vocabulary.
Note that this program is only offered to school groups.
