Are you hoping to share memorable moments with your family over spring break? Maybe even make it educational? And not involve screens? Les Amis de la montagne is here with a selection of outdoor activities and educational adventures in the heart of the city.
Fill your lungs with fresh forest air
Discover the tranquil forests of Mount Royal as a family with our guided hikes.
Bird Watching: It's a Hoot! Nature lovers of all ages will love this birdwatching walk of Mount Royal. Ask your little chicks, "What do birds do in winter?” Let them formulate their own hypotheses, and then come get the answers on this forest tour of bird feeders in the park. You'll discover how birds adapt during the cold season through activities and games animated by our expert guides!
The Scoop on Poop: Your kids will be so delighted to finally have permission to make all the poop jokes they want. You understood correctly! Sign up the whole family for a snowshoeing tour of Mount Royal's animal droppings. There's nothing like laughter to help kids learn more about the precious wildlife that inhabits our urban ecosystems.
See the world from a different perspective with these (free!) cultural activities
For a cultural outing that's budget-friendly, visit our latest photo exhibition at Smith House. This exhibition is an ode to the mountain and to the photographers who captured it with their cameras. Paroles de paysages: Mount Royal from Three Perspectives is an educational kiosk inside Mount Royal Chalet, accessible every afternoon from Tuesday to Saturday during spring break, and Friday and Saturday afternoons the rest of the time, until March 23.
This is your opportunity to learn more about important aspects of Mount Royal through a variety of themes, including biodiversity, landscape, architecture, history, Indigenous presence and conservation.
Lastly, on March 9, don’t miss the free public screening of 10 short films brought to you by Wapikioni Mobile in Mount Royal Chalet. These short films were created to promote and disseminate expressions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis culture. It’s a privilege for Les Amis to host the screening of these important Indigenous cinematographic works. Join us at the Mount Royal Chalet!
Warm up with refreshments and hot drinks
If the weather is cold, warm or somewhere in between, Café des Amis is there to welcome you with hearty soups, delicious sandwiches and hot chocolate beverages for little hands. Visit one of our three locations in Beaver Lake Pavilion, Mount Royal Chalet or Smith House.
Support our mission!
So what are you waiting for? Come play on Mount Royal this March to make new family memories with Les Amis! And if you're having a great time with us, please consider making a donation in support of our mission. Every dollar counts and is reinvested in protecting and conserving Mount Royal for today and for the generations of tomorrow. Your children will thank you.
