Its green spaces, proximity, accessibility, location in the heart of Montreal and beautiful, natural landscapes are just a few of the reasons explaining Mount Royal’s popularity…and the decline of its natural habitats, if we are unable to raise awareness among as many users as possible. The fact is that the mountain’s ecosystems are declining faster than we can protect them.
Les Amis de la montagne has been watching over Mount Royal for over 35 years. We are able to reach out to a great many users of the mountain through our conservation, education and outdoor recreation programs, as well as our advocacy actions. However, Les Amis wants to do more than that. We aim to expand the community of people who care about protecting the mountain, communicate more effectively with the wider public, get our messages across in a more flexible, fun and inclusive manner, attract support for the values and principles we promote and above all, encourage people to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours.
Through a series of comic strips, we hope to attract the attention of all users of Mount Royal, both young and old, with a view to improving their understanding of the issues that affect our beloved mountain and encouraging them to take action to protect it. What do you think?
