CHRISTOPHE DERRIEN APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LES AMIS DE LA MONTAGNE
Montréal, January 13, 2025 – Les Amis de la montagne is pleased to announce that Christophe Derrien has been named its new executive director. Appointed by the board of directors of Les Amis, Mr. Derrien assumed his duties on Monday, January 6, 2025, marking the start of the new year with a focus on renewal. This change represents a promising step for the organization and will further strengthen its mission to protect, enhance and promote Mount Royal. Drawing on a wealth and diversity of experiences, Christophe Derrien will breathe new life into the organization’s general management and provide a vital strategic vision to help guide future projects undertaken by Les Amis de la montagne.
A seasoned manager recognized for his mobilizing leadership and collaborative approach, Christophe Derrien places people at the heart of his actions, pairing creativity with rigour to meet ambitious and sustainable objectives. A visionary, he holds expertise in organizational transformation and excels at transforming challenges into concrete and lasting opportunities.
Through more than 25 years of experience in health, safety, the environment, quality control and continual improvement in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, Christophe has acquired in-depth expertise in management and process optimization. Five years ago, he shifted his focus to the community-based sector, holding positions in senior management, notably at Sollicité and Ville en Vert, where he led initiatives with a strong social and environmental impact. A native of Brittany, Mr. Derrien has called Quebec home since 2003. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Applied Chemistry from the University of Nottingham Trent and is a member of the Ordre des chimistes du Québec and the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec. He is also a certified sommelier. Christophe is a highly active member of the community. He holds a seat on several boards of directors, thereby attesting to his commitment to meaningful projects. His arrival at Les Amis de la montagne signals a new chapter, one that aligns perfectly with his career path and will allow him to draw on his considerable experience to pair social impact with environmental commitment in the service of Mount Royal.

After holding this position since 2018, Hélène Panaïoti welcomes her successor with confidence. His appointment will allow her to focus squarely on philanthropic development and partnerships in support of the organization’s mission.
