For francization groups: At the Foot of Mount Royal

For francization groups: At the Foot of Mount Royal

New guided tour!

Starting in spring and through to fall, come discover the mountain’s eastern slope. This walking tour takes participants from the Sir Georges-Étienne Cartier monument on Avenue du Parc to the Camillien-Houde lookout for a breathtaking view of Montréal’s east end.

This activity will help participants learn more about the history of the city and its institutions, and about the flora and fauna on the mountain, as well as discover Piedmont, a little-known but remarkable section of Mount Royal Park. This tour is geared towards learners with an intermediate-level knowledge of French.

Our pedagogical approach involves a rich array of images and visual materials, observation and exploration of the environment, and association games, as well as group discussions. Participants will learn about the natural and cultural heritage of Mount Royal through a stimulating, immersive experience in an exceptional natural setting.

This activity facilitates the integration process of new arrivals by increasing the participants’ knowledge of the following topics (included in the Québec Government’s 2015 Programme d’études Francisation):

  • Rules of conduct in parks
  • Québec history
  • Cultural organizations (Les Amis de la montagne)
